Content Marketing Strategy

content marketing strategy

Introduction

Note to reader: If your desire is to get traffic to your site, then all you need is a content marketing strategy like the one I've outlined below...

So you've launched your site, your excited, but nothing happens.

One week, nothing.

One month goes by and still no traffic.

Don't worry, you're not alone. In fact, most new websites struggle with getting traffic in the first month.

But here's the thing: there are ways to get traffic even when you're a new site. And the good news is that they don't all require a ton of money or time – just some strategic thinking and planning on your end.

Here is a proven content marketing strategy that will help get your website traffic (and links) up quickly:

Why is a New Site so Hard to Rank

Now that you've got your site, it's time to start growing it. But how?

Well, there's the old saying: "Content is king." That's true—but this phrase is also a red herring. It implies something much more powerful than what is actually needed for success in search engine optimization (SEO).

The fact is that most websites don't rank well because they don't have good content or because their designs aren't optimized for sharing or because they're not getting links from other sites. All of these things are important for ranking well in Google, but there are other factors at play as well!

  • You need good content

  • You need a good user experience (UX)

  • You need people to share your content

  • You need links to your site

  • You need traffic to your site

Strategy 1: Write Epic Blog Posts: Give the reader what they want

Blogging is one of the most effective ways to create content for your site. Your blog should be a place where you can share information about your business, industry, or niche. A blog can also be used as a way to educate and inform readers about anything from product features and benefits to tips on how to use a product or service.

Once you've decided what type of blog content you want to create, make sure it's not just good enough; it needs to be great! Make sure that whatever posts you write have added value for the reader by providing helpful tips and resources they can reference down the road.

Strategy 2: Apply E-A-T

E-A-T stands for expertise, authority and trust. These are three of the most important characteristics that make up online content marketing strategy. If you want to get traffic from your website, then you need to apply E-A-T to your content.

E-A-T can be applied in a few ways:

  • Make sure that your website has an expert in a specific field. If you're not an expert on your own blog, hire someone who is! Expertise leads to authority which leads to trust and ultimately traffic coming from Google searches and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

  • Also make sure that while writing posts on your site, you state why they should visit it again (and again) with things like "we'll keep it" or "we promise". This will increase the chances of them returning because they trust the brand behind it more than ever before after reading some good old fashioned customer service copywriting!

Strategy 3: Compose something New and Different

This strategy is all about giving your readers something they can't get anywhere else. You want to give them a unique perspective that they haven't seen before, or maybe even something that's so unique that you don't even know how to describe it.

It's easy to see what makes content different based on the number of shares and comments people leave on social media, but it might be trickier for you as a writer. To find out what makes your content different than others', ask yourself:

  • What are my qualities as a writer? What do I bring to the table?

  • If I were an editor at another publication, what would I include in my own articles?

  • What do I wish someone would write about but hasn't yet been written about?

Strategy 4: Set Up a Content Calendar Schedule

Setting up a content calendar is a simple way to get organized and ensure that you don't forget to post new content on your website. You can use a tool like Trello or Google Calendar, or even an old-fashioned notebook. The point is to create a schedule for yourself so that you know when each piece of content will be posted, how long it will take to prepare, and what steps need to happen before publishing (such as editing).

Don't overbook yourself! If you set up too many posts per day or week, it's likely that some will fall through the cracks because it takes more time than expected. It also helps if there's another person involved in the process who can remind you if something slips through the cracks. In addition, make sure these dates are visible at all times—this way there are no excuses for not getting things done on time!

Strategy 5: Post Often and Post a lot of Quality Content

You might be wondering, "How am I supposed to post a lot of quality content? I don't have time for that! And it's not like my business has any money to spend on marketing."

Well, there are many ways to get help with the latter. You can hire a writer or freelance editor (if you're working in a niche field) to write some of your posts for you. However, if your budget is tight and you don't have anyone else to help out yet (or if writing isn't their strong point), then consider using a tool like Grammarly which will do an awesome job at catching grammar errors and spelling mistakes without having to pay them anything extra! Or, you can even get assistance from Ai writing software such as Copy.ai or Jasper.

Regardless of how much time it takes or what resources are available, posting often is crucial because it allows people on Google's first page when they search something related specifically about your industry (or related keywords)!

Content marketing takes time, but you can see results pretty quickly if you do it the right way.

Creating a content marketing strategy is easy. The hard part is seeing results from it, and that won't happen overnight.

But you can see results pretty quickly if you do it the right way: write epic blog posts, apply e-a-t (expertise, authority, trust), compose something new and different, and set up a content calendar.

Conclusion

These strategies are great for beginners, but the real goal is to grow your business. If you have a content marketing strategy in place, then it will be easier to get more traffic and conversions from customers who already know about you. That's why we recommend putting together a content calendar that spans at least 3 months out into the future so that you can consistently publish new posts each week!
